BIO 473LAB - Mycology Our planet hosts a staggering 2.2 - 3.8 million species of fungi. Fungi can be found on every continent, in water and on land, and are essential to the cycling of nutrients globally. This mycology course will utilize lectures, discussions, local field trips, novel lab work, and fieldwork to provide students with a solid foundation of fungi, primarily through an ecological lens. Together, we will explore fungal taxonomy and diagnostics, fungal morphology and physiology, fungal ecology, fungal-based conservation, and the connections between fungi and humans.
