NSG 314LEC - Application of Healthcare Informatics to Promote Health, Quality and Safety


This course builds upon communication literacy concepts through application of computer and information technology that impacts nursing practice. The use of information management systems is explored in relationship to interprofessional communication, management of data to inform knowledge, prevent and mitigate error, and support decision-making. Emphasis is placed on monitoring trends in practice and in outcomes of care. Students are introduced to research and evidence-based practice standards in information systems to improve cost-effectiveness, safety, and quality.
