TH 320SEM - Writing About Performance

Performance has an integral relationship with public communication. Not only through reviews by critics, but also in social media content, proposals, grant applications, and program notes, the written word communicates with and among audiences, funders, artists, producers, scholars, and critics in ways that help performance circulate and build insight into how performance works in the world. In this course, students will develop the skills necessary to write about performance by closely observing live and recorded performance, reading and discussing writing about performance, and drafting and revising their own writing.
