CL 339LEC - Roman Archaeology II

The course focuses on the archaeology of Imperial Rome. Through the analysis of several case-studies, students will become familiar with the scholarly debates around Roman Imperial sites, their architecture, and ongoing field research. The Emperors and their achievements will also be considered. The course spans the end of the Republic (1st century BCE) up to the establishment of Early Medieval Europe (7th century CE) in response to the decline of the Roman Empire. (Sebastiani). This course is the same as AHI339, and course repeat rules apply. Students should consult with their major department regarding any restrictions on their degree requirements.
