Core P. Maloney Center Overview

The Cora P. Maloney Center (CPMC) was chartered in 1976 and was named in honor of Mrs. Maloney, who was very active in the Buffalo community, was educationally and civically engaged, and is recognized as one of the leading African-American women who tirelessly built strong communities here in Western New York. Originating as a residential college at UB, CPMC continues to be unique in that it provides a dynamic network of services and opportunities that promote access and academic excellence to address the needs and concerns of UB’s students. CPMC’s focus is to provide students with academic experiences from a perspective that is deeply rooted in the community.

CPMC offers credit-bearing courses and support programs designed to enrich the intellectual and personal development of university students. CPMC’s courses consist of three general and interrelated themes:

  • College Success
  • Community Outreach
  • Social Justice
