Neuroscience Overview
The neuroscience program is housed within the department of pharmacology and toxicology. The neuroscience program offers a bachelor’s degree and a minor.
Neuroscience is an interdisciplinary field of study that allows individuals to decipher the nervous system which guides all behavior, and cognition. In this program, students will examine the function and dysfunction of the brain through the utilization of a molecules-to-behavior approach. Students who complete a bachelor of science in neuroscience will be prepared and competitive for further study in both professional and graduate school. In addition, these students will be well-equipped to enter the job market in which neuroscience has become an increasingly driving force.
Academic Advising
Students in their first two years will work with the Jacobs School Undergraduate Education office to create an academic plan, discuss course selection and workload management. Advisor assignments are determined by student last name. Students enrolled in upper-division coursework for either program will work with Shannon Brown.
The purpose of advisement is to provide students with guidance in course sequencing and selection. Advisement is required in your first year at the University to develop an appropriate academic plan to facilitate timely graduation.
