Robotics Minor

Admission Criteria


  • One of the following:
    1. Academic good standing within an approved major within the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
    2. Satisfaction of the core course requirement for admission to an engineering major. See our Admission to SEAS for Current UB Students documentation for more information.
  • Minimum overall and UB GPA of 2.500 required

 

Current students wishing to add or change their minor to Robotics, submit the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Major/Minor Change Application. See the complete School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Admissions Policies for details.

Course Requirements


Total Credits Required for Minor: 18-19


Total Credit Hours Required represents the minimum credits needed to complete this program, and may vary based on a number of circumstances. This chart should not be used for financial aid purposes.

Academic Requirements


  • Minimum GPA for minor is 2.000 in minor courses.
  • At least three courses applied for the minor cannot be used to fulfill any other program requirements (UB Curriculum, major, or other minor). Also, some of the courses have their own specific pre-requisites and therefore might not be available to all students in the minor.

Learning Outcomes


  • Understand the current trends and the roles robots play within particular technical areas.
  • Apply appropriate theories and methods to analyze and understand the control of spatial mechanisms.
  • Identify, formulate and solve problems that lend themselves to robotic solutions within one’s area of interest.
  • Understand a robotic integration process within a technical environment of interest.
  • Identify programming needs related to user/robot interfaces and path-planning.
  • Understand the influence robots have on advanced manufacturing and collaborative environments.
  • Communicate effectively about robotic problem solutions, technologies, and system designs.
