Political Science Minor


Admission Criteria


Current UB students seeking admission to the Political Science minor should complete the College of Arts and Sciences Major/Minor Change Request Form.

Course Requirements


Political Science Core (6 credits)


Three 300/400 level PSC courses (9 credits)


At least 1 course (3 credits) must be in comparative politics, international relations, or public law (see lists below).

Total Credit Hours Required represents the minimum credits needed to complete this program, and may vary based on a number of circumstances. This chart should not be used for financial aid purposes.

UB Seminar courses cannot count towards minor requirements.

Learning Outcomes


Upon successful completion of all requirements, the student will have knowledge of:

  • Scholarship in three of the following four fields: American politics, comparative politics, international relations, and public law
  • Developing writing skills to intellectually communicate their ideas and research findings about political topics
  • Develop the analytical skills necessary to think critically about political, social, and economic behavior
  • Develop an understanding of their role as an engaged citizen in a democratic political system
