Admission Criteria
- Complete 8 of the 12 prerequisites
- Minimum prerequisite GPA of 2.800
- Complete all UB Curriculum requirements except UBC 399 Curriculum Capstone
Current students wishing to pursue this major must follow the instructions on the Department of Rehabilitation Science.
Students with a previous Bachelor’s degree should work with an advisor from Office of Academic and Student Affairs to ensure completion of all prerequisites.
Academic Requirements
Students wishing to enter the professional portion of the BS/MS Occupational Therapy program must apply through the Graduate School Application Manager by January 12 of the year in which they intend to begin the program. This includes students who are reapplying to the program. At the time of application, students must have completed at least eight prerequisite courses including ES 207 , PHY 101 , and STA 119 and STA 119 , and thirty-five (35) hours of volunteer work in a US occupational therapy site providing the opportunity to observe interdisciplinary activities, and observe patients/clients in a variety of settings under the supervision of an occupational therapist. Remaining prerequisite and UB Curriculum requirements, except the capstone, must be completed in the Spring semester with grades of C- or better and a semester prerequisite GPA of 2.800 or above. Students may not take prerequisite courses more than twice and may not repeat more than two prerequisite courses.
Students fully admitted to the professional program must maintain a semester GPA of 2.800 in the undergraduate portion and 3.000 in the graduate portion of the professional sequence.

Your actual plan may vary depending on point of entry to the university, course placement and/or waivers based on standardized test scores, earned alternative credit and/or college transfer credit.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of all requirements, the student will have knowledge of:
- Graduates will pass the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam
- Students in the OT BS/MS program will demonstrate the clinical and professional skills needed to successfully complete their Level II fieldwork experiences
- Graduates will obtain employment within the occupational therapy profession within 6 months of passing the NBCOT certification exam
