Admission Criteria


  • Full-time UB School of Management Undergraduate Honors students
  • Minimum overall GPA 3.500

Current UB students seeking admission to the Prominence in Leadership micro-credential should submit the Global Programs application form.

Course Requirements


Prominence in Leadership Core (9 credits)


Additional Requirements


  • Oral presentation/defense of personal leadership journey: You will submit a comprehensive reflective editorial document and e-portfolio based on your three semesters of reflective work, including the competencies and behaviors you have developed. You will summarize your experiences in a three-minute audio presentation and present an oral defense to a panel and peers about your leadership development journey. Feedback is captured from peers (anonymously) to determine your level of engagement and growth.

Total Credits Required for Micro-Credential: 9


Academic Requirements


  • Full-time UB School of Management Undergraduate Honors students
  • University Honors College management majors receive admissions preference, provided you meet the overall GPA requirement of 3.5 or better
  • You must submit a completed Honors program application by Sept. 30 of your junior year to be interviewed
  • Upon successful completion of the interviews, interviewers will submit their recommendations to a selection committee for further review. The committee looks for engagement, interest and developmental readiness

Learning Outcomes


After completing the Prominence in Leadership micro-credential, students will be able to: 

  • Improve self-awareness and identification through assessments, journal reflections and mentoring
  • Strengthen leadership development competencies through understanding and action-learning
  • Acquire tools to enhance soft skills such as creative problem solving, diversity training, integrity practice, given and receiving feedback 
  • Expand their profession network 
  • Serve their community and others
