The Chemical Engineering ME program is a research-based degree with an industrial focus designed to enhance student preparedness for future careers by cultivating essential skills in areas of significant industry demand for those with and without prior chemical engineering training.
Chemical Engineering ME students have the option to select from four distinct focus areas:

Required Core (18 credits)
- Select 18 credits of formal graduate coursework in Chemical Engineering (CE).
- Excluding CE 501 -CE 504 , CE 559 , CE 560 , CE 596 , CE 601 , CE 602 , CE 659 , CE 660 , BE 699 , IE 659 , IE 660 , CSE 800 , CIE 659 , CIE 660 , EE 699 , MAE 660 .
Electives & Culminating Experience (12 credits)
Electives (6-11 credits)
Number of elective credits may vary depending on choice made to complete the culminating experience. Be sure to complete enough elective credit to reach 30 minimum total credit hours.
- Select 6-11 credits of graduate elective coursework in Chemical Engineering (CE).
- Excluding BE 699 , CE 559 , CE 560 , CE 659 , CE 660 , CSE 800 , CIE 659 , CIE 660 , IE 659 , IE 660 , MAE 660 .
- Limit of 6 credits of Informal Courses including CE 501 , CE 502 , CE 601 , CE 602 .
- Limit 6 credits of CE 596 internship.
- Limit of 6 credits from departments outside of Chemical Engieering.
Culminating Experience: Project or Internship (1-6 credits)
Total Credit Hours: 30
