At least 4 of the 5 electives must be at the 300/400 level.

Total Credit Hours Required represents the minimum credits needed to complete this program, and may vary based on a number of circumstances. This chart should not be used for financial aid purposes.

*Continuation in the minor will be contingent on completing SSC 103 with a minimum grade of C or better.
Students may substitute one of their 5 electives with one of the following courses. UB Seminar courses cannot count toward minor requirements:
Academic Requirements
- Minimum GPA of 2.000 overall in the minor.
- Minimum GPA of 2.000 in SSC 103
- No more than two 300- or 400-level courses may be used to satisfy credit requirements in the student’s major, other minors, or programs. Students may substitute one course with a non-SSC course. The substitute course must come from the list approved by the program staff. SSC 103 is not eligible for substitution.
Transfer Credit Policy
- At least 50 percent of the coursework for the minor must be completed at UB.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the minor in Health and Human Services, students will be able to:
- Identify a range of health and human services professions, and characteristics of health and human services professionals and social service organizations.
- Understand client problems and needs and the theories that support human services interventions.
- Recognize the effect of human values and diversity of culture on the provision of health and human services.
- Understand key concepts such as patient/client autonomy and informed consent within the health and human services fields.
- Identify and describe community organizations, agency structure and functions, client populations and problems, and specific helping techniques.
- Demonstrate personal characteristics, professional skills, and knowledge of ethical guidelines associated with entry-level human services positions.
- Develop writing, oral presentation, and interview skills necessary in human services fields.
